15th October 2018

Wow- what a great first half term we have had in year 2. Thank you for all of your support so far.

This week we in English we have been listening to and creating our own acrostic poems. An acrostic poem is a type of poetry where the first, last or other letters in a line spell out a particular word or phrase. Our poems have had a pirate theme!

In maths this week we have been learning how to count in 3s. As part of your home learning we would like your children to continue this at home. We have been singing it to the tune of row, row, row your boat.

3, 6, 9, 12
15 and 18
21, 24
27 and 30

The children could even paint the numbers on a 1-100 number square by clicking the link below.

We also encourage to children to regularly count in 2s, 5s and 10s up to 100 and if they would like an extra challenge you could ask them to count in 10s from any number. For example 3, 13, 23, 33...etc.

We have also been learning number names (e.g. 1 one, 15 fifteen etc) and there are some great games online to help children learn to read them...
